When I bought my iPhone 15, I did what most of us do.

Before even properly using it, I wrapped it in protection: a thick cover and a tempered glass.

The intention was simple: protect the device.

But something interesting happened.

For months I used the phone like that. Safe. Protected. But also slightly dull. The edges felt bulky. The screen didn't feel as smooth. The sleek design I had paid for was hidden behind layers of safety.

Recently I removed the cover and the tempered glass.

Suddenly the phone felt completely different. Lighter, smoother, more premium. The experience was exactly what the designers intended. And it made me realize something funny.

In trying to protect the experience, I had accidentally reduced it.

And that felt like a small life lesson.

Many times in life we do the same thing. We add layers of protection: fear of failure, fear of judgment, over-planning, over-thinking. All of it comes from a good place. We want to protect ourselves.

But sometimes those layers also dull the experience.

Life, like that phone, is designed to be felt fully. Smooth edges, risks included. Protection is important. But so is experiencing things as they were meant to be.

Sometimes, removing a layer makes life feel lighter again.
